Classes begin tomorrow here, and I probably ought to wrap these drafts up some time in the very near future, like, a week ago. To that end:

Despite any feelings of ambivalence towards the marvels of San Cristóbal de las Casas, let it not be said that I do not stand in awe of Chiapas state. Had I the chance to do this trip over again, Palenque is the single location I would insist on being pase lo que pase.

With several new international travel companions and a belly full of the Federal District, I headed over the mountains and into the state of Oaxaca. The winding drive to the Pacific coastal state is one of the best reasons to make the trip, and this is not meant to disparage the state, but to emphasize the unimaginable beauty of the drive.

Plus, the beach. Mmm.
